Main purpose of the job:

Assisting the Costing department in producing various bills. Which will service the entire Firm by allowing departments to conclude their files by having those bills submitted to the relevant bodies for payment.

Main key result areas

  • Provides support to departments in preparing claims for payment to the LAA, private paying clients or other relevant bodies. Preparing, amongst other things, High Cost case plans, CLAIM1, CLAIM1A, CLAIM2, CCMS Bills, Defence costs orders, Cost Schedules for negotiation, Solicitor Client Bills/Gross sum bills, schedules for Summary Assessment, schedules for Allocation and listing Questionnaires, all bills etc relating to the crime contract.
  • Work effectively on the Client and Cost Management System, Legal Aid Agency Online and E forms to produce bills and facilitate support to fee earners also on these systems.
  • Produce detailed appeal bills to the Legal Aid Agency or other relevant bodies should costs be disputed.
  • Ensure the Firm gets paid the maximum amount possible on every file
  • Ensure that payments are allocated to the correct file/matter when funds are received
  • Ensure that bills are submitted and have been received by the relevant authority, files are satisfactorily finished, disbursements paid and files closed
  • Provide general administrative support to the Costing department

 Minimum qualifications – 5 G.C.S.E’s or equivalent at grade C, including Maths and English, (relevant work experience may be considered as alternative)
