Court of Protection & social welfare

Stephensons has been conducting this type of work for over 30 years. Our experience of this work dates back to when it was termed ‘wardships’ and ‘guardianships’ such is the length of time we have been effectively delivering this work.

We have experience of the financial management of Court of Protection work in a local authority context and currently receive regular instructions from a local authority.

Our experience

Two of the team are appointed as Professional Deputies and we are currently appointed as Professional Deputies on over 40 cases. Additionally, we are Lay Deputies on a significant number of other cases.

In addition to this, one of our solicitors is an Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialist (ACTAPS) and consequently we have dealt with a number of Contentious Court of Protection cases.  We deal with Court of Protection cases from a best interest perspective where there is dispute between the parents and the local authority concerning what is in the best interest of a vulnerable adult.
