Vascar

A Vascar is another form of in-car speed measuring device, which requires precision of use by the operator. This means that there is usually a copy of the enforcement session on video. If you doubt the validity of the speed recorded we can, for a fixed fee, view the video footage and advise you of the merits of challenging the speed reading recorded.

Should you wish to dispute an allegation that you were exceeding the speed limit, there are a number of technical and legal arguments surrounding the admissibility of evidence obtained from such a device which we can argue on your behalf. Robust cross examination can often establish whether the roadside officer has operated the device correctly and in accordance with ACPO guidance.

If a Court could not be satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that the speed reading was reliable or likely to be accurate you would be found not guilty and acquitted. In such a situation you would be entitled to recover your reasonable costs in preparing your defence.
