Stephensons recently helped a food manufacturer retain their operator’s licence, after their fleet of vehicles was inspected by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) and they were then referred to the Traffic Commissioner.
The client, which makes kebabs, burgers and other food products and supplies them to fast food outlets nationwide using a fleet of commercial vehicles, had several vehicles stopped over a period of time for overloading and mechanical defects.
The company was investigated by VOSA, who carried out a fleet inspection and found shortcomings in the company’s systems for maintaining the vehicles. They were then called to a Public Inquiry before the Traffic Commissioner to consider taking regulatory action against their operators licence.
With the help of a transport consultant, Stephensons’ transport partner Sean Joyce audited their systems and introduced new ones. He then presented evidence of the improvements made to the Traffic Commissioner.
The Traffic Commissioner allowed them to keep their licence meaning the company was able to maintain its supply contracts with a nationwide network of restaurants.
