North West law firm Stephensons Solicitors LLP and children’s charity, Barnardo’s, have been hig
hly commended at the Law Society Excellence Awards 2012, an annual event which recognises the legal sector’s outstanding talent.
Stephensons and Barnardo’s narrowly missed out on winning the first prize, but were ‘Highly Commended’ for their work to create a voluntary partnership which seeks to work together to deliver joint messages on key issues which affect the most vulnerable people in society, including domestic abuse and homelessness.
The partnership has a shared vision, to ‘provide services which improve the lives of individuals including some of the most vulnerable people in society’.
A range of initiatives have already been implemented to portray this shared vision, such as hosting a domestic abuse conference for more than 200 professionals, the renovation of a room at a Barnardo’s home for homeless teens as well as Stephensons taking part in Barnardo’s Free Will Scheme as part of the firm’s membership to QualitySolicitors.
Stephensons and Barnardo’s are also looking at organisational learning, by sharing best practice on communication strategies, mentoring schemes and staff motivation.
