Manchester’s business community is being urged to attend an annual luncheon and charity auction to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
More than 250 of the region’s professionals are expected to attend the fourth annual Brown Shipley Gulls’ Eggs Luncheon, on Friday 17th May from 12pm – 2.30pm in the Banqueting Room at Manchester Town Hall.
The networking event, hosted by leading private bank, Brown Shipley, has established itself as one of the premier networking and fundraising events in Manchester. Last year, more than £26,000 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Miranda Brown, special events manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “In 2013, the money raised from the event will go towards partly-funding a Macmillan acute oncology nurse in North Manchester General Hospital. These nurses work closely with colleagues in the Accident and Emergency department, identifying patients who come in as an emergency but who have had, or are likely to have, a cancer diagnosis, and giving them tailored care based on their individual needs.”
Peter Stiles, Private Client Divisional Director and committee member, from Brown Shipley, said: “The luncheon has become a significant Manchester diary date and we hope the city’s business community will come out in force to buy tickets to support Macmillan’s vital work in the region.”
The exclusive luncheon will provide business people with the opportunity to enjoy an informal standing lunch, with servings of Gulls’ Eggs, a delicacy only available for a few weeks each year. Traditional accompaniments such as smoked salmon and fine wines will also be served.
Gillian Davies, family solicitor at Stephensons Solicitors LLP, and a committee member of the luncheon, added: “We are extremely grateful to those who have already purchased tickets and donated prizes for the raffle. The Gulls’ Eggs luncheon is an exceptional way to raise money for Macmillan, as well as to meet other professionals in a unique environment. Therefore, I am pleased to be part of the organising committee.”
Tickets are £25 each and are available to buy online at www.macmillan.org.uk or for information on ticket packages call the Macmillan Special Events team on 01616 966 229.
