Road safety inspires pupils to create posters

Pupils at two schools in Wigan and Leigh have created road safety awareness posters as part of Road Safety Week 2014.

Year seven pupils at Rose Bridge High School in Ince, and Year five pupils at Leigh Central Primary School in Leigh, took part in the poster competition which was organised by national law firm Stephensons Solicitors LLP, with gift vouchers awarded to the top three at each school.

The message of BRAKE’s National Road Safety Week this year ‘look out for each other’, highlights the importance of being aware of the different ways people use the roads. Stephensons’ personal injury solicitor, Shahina Sakeria, delivered interactive presentations to each school and then set the children the task of coming up with posters to convey their own road safety message (pictured).

Shahina said: “Well done to the top three prize winners from each school. The competition was a way to encourage the pupils to focus on the key messages of road safety and highlight what they had learned.

“While judging the posters it was evident that each of them had taken away something constructive from the presentations. Road safety is a crucial topic for school children; they face dangers on the roads every day. That’s why we support BRAKE and the work the charity does to make our roads a safer place to be.”
