May 2011 was a record month for leading law firm Stephensons Solicitors LLP, as the firm’s team of personal injury and clinical negligence experts won more than £5 million in compensation for their clients.
The 55-strong team, based in Leigh and Wigan, have secured several substantial settlements for clients whose lives have been devastated through injury or acts of negligence. The team comprises experts in clinical negligence, personal injury and road traffic accidents.
Settled matters included a case in which a local hospital failed to diagnose a child’s fractured hip correctly, resulting in him needing a full hip replacement.
A clinical negligence case was settled recently for a seven figure sum in respect of a child who has severe disabilities, while another child who suffered a serious act of clinical negligence won a large amount of compensation for life long injuries.
Andrew Welch, managing partner of the department, said: “This is a significant amount of money and it is very rewarding to have secured such a large figure for our clients in one month.
“These cases are unfortunately just a snapshot of the types of injuries we see on a daily basis. Every person that we advise has been injured, sometimes extremely seriously, through no fault of their own and the financial recompense will enable them to adapt to what can often be a greatly altered lifestyle.”
