What do lawyers, doctors, teachers, police officers, religious leaders all have in common? They’re among a group of professionals most likely to have points on their licence according to the latest Admiral survey.
The insurance provider analysed the professions of the 1.6 people who took out a policy with them last year, and coming out worst were those working in positions of responsibility, who are more likely to have points on their licence than the average driver.
Sean Joyce, partner and motoring solicitor at Stephensons Solicitors LLP, said: “The survey found that those people we often look up to, legal profession included, have less than perfect driving records, with the most common convictions being for speeding, traffic light offences and using a phone whilst driving.
“It’s disappointing but not surprising that professionals have topped this list. Driving offences can affect any section of society, and anyone, regardless of profession, could find themselves in the situation where they are facing prosecution for a driving offence.
“What’s important is to take the appropriate legal advice from the outset from an experienced motoring solicitor, in order to potentially minimise the risk of a conviction.”
