North West law firm touches down in Texas

2007 looks sets to be an exciting year for law graduate Abigail Finnigan, of North West law firm Stephensons, when she flies out to Texas, USA, to work on a high profile death penalty case as part of her studies for a Masters degree in International Human Rights.

The significance of the 4 month placement [starting February] has led to a documentary being commissioned by the University of Central England to focus on Abigail and her work, the sentencing, and the benefits provided by UK students to capitol defence attorneys in the US. This will initially be showcased at national and international film festivals.

Of her Texan placement, Abigail said: “Such a fantastic opportunity and challenge will bring knowledge and expertise not only to my career, but also to Stephensons. The documentary will be of great value to other Human Rights students at the University, and allow them to see exactly what is involved in such a case.”

Whilst at Stephensons, Abigail has worked closely with criminal and human rights specialist Campbell Malone. As a consultant in Crime Special Cases, Campbell has a national reputation for investigating and challenging miscarriages of justice.
