Stephensons supports action for Brain Injury Week 2012

North West law firm Stephensons Solicitors LLP is supporting this week’s Action for Brain Injury Week 2012, with a series of fundraising events to raise money for the brain injury charity, Headway.

The firm’s clinical negligence team, which specialises in helping people who have suffered brain injuries at birth to gain access to justice, is celebrating the fundraising week by designing – and wearing – hats this Friday in return for a donation.

The Headway charity runs ‘Hats for Headway’ on the last day of Action for Brain Injury Week, to raise funds for people who have suffered brain injuries. In addition to taking part in Hats for Headway, the entire firm is taking part in a raffle to raise more money, across Stephensons’ offices in Wigan, Leigh, St Helens, Bolton and Manchester.

Headway runs Action for Brain Injury Week each year. Their aim is to promote understanding of all aspects of brain injury and to provide information, support and services to people with a brain injury, their families and carers.

Louise Griffiths, Partner and head of the clinical negligence department at Stephensons Solicitors LLP, said: “Action for Brain Injury Week is a chance to celebrate the vital and often unsung work of Headway's groups and branches across the UK.

“Our clinical negligence and personal injury teams work with local people every day who have been affected by brain injuries, through no fault of their own. Often these injuries occur during birth, but leave the person needing a lifetime of care. Our aim, by taking part in Action for Brain Injury Week, is to raise awareness of brain injuries and their devastating effects.”

Stephensons’ clinical negligence department is one of the largest in the region. The team advises members of the public who have suffered negligence at the hands of medical professionals, including GPs, surgeons, beauty therapists, dentists and other practitioners. They assist individuals in recovering compensation for injuries and financial losses they have suffered as a result of negligence.

The firm’s personal injury team also assists people who have suffered brain injuries to gain compensation. The award-winning team has specialists handling cases which involve permanent injuries such as brain damage, head and spinal injuries. The department has a proven track record in not only investigating and maximising the financial aspects of a claim, but also assisting in providing practical support and other services to help people adapt to a dramatically altered lifestyle.
