During November, our firm, Stephensons Solicitors LLP, is taking part in Will Aid.
Will Aid is the UK's top charity Will-writing scheme. It offers everyone the opportunity to make or update their Will in return for a donation to help people in need all over the world.
We have taken part in the event for the last three years and last year raised more than £1,000 for the charity. This November, we are providing an innovative way for people to make their Wills, as Will Aid clients can exclusively make them online via our website, by clicking the links below:
Our online Will-writing tool gives people the ability to draw up their own Will, prompted by a range of questions. The Will is automatically sent to one of our qualified Probate solicitors to verify the details. To access the free Will Aid offer, the code WA5 should be used when prompted.
We are offering the opportunity to draw up basic Wills online without charging our usual fee. In return for this service, we hope clients will donate the fee we would normally charge to the Will Aid charities. This is the opportunity to give to charity, rather than paying a solicitor!
As a guide, the suggested donation amount is just £45 for a single Will and £70 for a pair of 'matching' Wills.
The money will be divided between nine well-known UK charities: ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children UK, Sightsavers, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (Northern Ireland). All are working to help people gain the tools, skills and support they need to improve their lives in the UK and around the world.

Comprehensive Will for a married person or civil partner | £45 |
This Will is suitable for anyone who is married or in a civil partnership. It will allow you to make as many gifts of money or specific items as you like. You will be able to leave the remainder of your estate after making gifts (i.e. the residuary estate) to as many persons you would like, either in equal shares or in varying percentages. You can also vary how you would like to leave your residuary estate, make provisions for the care of pets and appoint guardians for your children. (Those with spouses/civil partners domiciled outside the UK should note that the normal tax-free allowances do not apply, and we recommend tax advice is sought in these cases.)
